Teacher and Head of Business and Economics (up to A-Level)

About the role

Knowledge Gate International School (KGIS), a British-style school in Muscat serving expatriate and local students, is looking for a Teacher of Business Studies and Economics who will also act as Head of Department. The appointment starts in January 2027. As Head of Department, the person will manage a small team of teachers as well as carry out their own teaching. The school is part of Inspired Education, a group of premium private schools.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that match the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements, differentiating learning so each student makes outstanding progress.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly and give targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom and school environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Share best practice with colleagues, collaborate with them and pursue your own professional development.
• Take an active part in the school's co-curricular programme, from leading clubs to contributing to whole-school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents to build strong partnerships for students' progress.

Required profile

• A genuine passion for education and the ability to engage and motivate young people.
• In-depth expertise in Business Studies and Economics, with a track record of excellence in personal, academic and professional achievements.
• Experience in pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a focus on individual attention.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and independently, and to build strong relationships with families.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
• PGCE, QTS or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of post-graduate study.
