Technical Services Engineer – Avionics

About the role

SalamAir is looking for a Technical Services Engineer for avionics in Muscat. The role ensures the continued airworthiness, reliability, safety and performance of aircraft avionics and electrical systems through engineering support, evaluation of regulatory requirements and technical modifications, and management of reliability and maintenance programs. It works with manufacturers, service providers and internal stakeholders while keeping compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate technical projects with other departments so that standards meet airworthiness authority and company expectations.
• Review ADs, SBs, modifications, reliability issues and maintenance programs for avionics and electrical systems, and maintain a database of aircraft and system history.
• Ensure compliance with rules, policies and procedures, including HSE policies, and recommend updates.
• Review proposals, statements of work, cost estimates and contracts, and support the Manager Technical Services in choosing the best options.
• Oversee maintenance, inspection and modification of avionics, communications, navigation, surveillance, flight management, cockpit displays, electrical power and aircraft software, and develop maintenance programs.
• Provide engineering support for system malfunctions, component reliability and overhaul programs, and lead investigations with root cause analysis.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and vendors for parts, tools and equipment, and liaise with Maintenance, Operations and Procurement.
• Document all maintenance and modification activities, keep technical records such as inspection reports and maintenance logs, and prepare technical reports and engineering instructions.
• Identify improvements in maintenance procedures, take part in training, and carry out other tasks directed by the Manager Technical Services.

Required profile

• Graduate in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance.
• Strong experience with aircraft inspection, repair and modification.
