Commis (Entry-Level Kitchen Assistant)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis to join the kitchen team at a luxury hotel in Al Mouj, Muscat. This entry‑level position supports the preparation and cooking of a wide range of dishes while maintaining the high standards expected in a five‑star hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing and measuring.
• Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test foods for doneness and monitor food quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean, disinfected kitchen area.
• Check and record appliance and food temperatures to ensure safety compliance.
• Follow all company safety, security and hygiene policies and report any issues.
• Maintain a professional appearance and communicate clearly with team members.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 lb, and moving items.
• Assist with any additional duties as directed by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Minimum of one year of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Muscat.
