Engineering Coordinator – Maintenance Engineering

About the role

The Engineering Coordinator will lead the implementation of technical standards for maintenance engineering, aligning with the Maintenance Master Plan to ensure systematic follow‑up, evaluation and continuous improvement of Vale’s assets. The role focuses on increasing equipment availability, reliability and productivity while managing budgets, sustaining investments and complying with international quality, HSE and risk standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deploy maintenance strategies, standards and plans to achieve operational excellence.
• Coordinate engineering studies, CPIA analyses and HIRA‑based strategies for critical assets.
• Manage the maintenance engineering budget (USD 3.6 M) and sustaining investment portfolio (USD 3.0 M), monitoring performance against targets.
• Lead the optimisation of shutdown campaigns and material/component management in line with the maintenance strategy.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, normative and master‑data requirements for maintenance activities.
• Develop and mentor a high‑performing team, set objectives, recruit qualified staff and conduct performance reviews.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional departments to integrate strategic objectives into the asset‑management plan.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maintenance engineering or asset reliability within an industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of maintenance budgeting, sustaining investments and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive strategic projects to completion.
• Familiarity with HIRA, CPIA and international quality/HSE standards.
