Lead Technician - Power Plant Electrical

About the role

The Lead Technician – Power Plant Electrical is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy industrial electrical equipment to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality production. The role also provides technical coaching and support to the maintenance team, driving performance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Apply SA Environment, Health & Safety procedures, wear correct PPE, and enforce 5S principles.
• Repair, troubleshoot and maintain electrical equipment, performing complex tasks and emergency breakdowns.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes and conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures.
• Enter maintenance data into SAP Plant Maintenance (reservations, requisitions, work orders).
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects and recommend process enhancements.
• Coach, mentor and develop technicians, fostering a high‑performance, safety‑focused culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience with heavy industrial electrical equipment maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of EHS standards, isolation procedures and 5S methodology.
• Ability to lead a team, provide technical guidance and drive performance.
• Familiarity with SAP Plant Maintenance or similar CMMS.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to perform RCA.
