Planning Principal

About the role

The Planning Principal will lead long‑term gas supply and demand planning, pricing analysis, and strategic sector studies for the Integrated Gas Company. This senior position provides strategic direction and oversight of gas allocation, infrastructure development, and resource optimisation to support national energy objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead long‑term gas supply and demand forecasting, pricing analysis, and strategic sector studies.
• Drive strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management across the gas portfolio.
• Prepare and consolidate business plans, performance reports and management dashboards.
• Monitor market trends, competition and organisational performance to identify opportunities and risks.
• Align resources and departmental plans with corporate strategy and evaluate new business opportunities.
• Conduct benchmark and strategic analyses to support continuous improvement.
• Assess supply availability, demand requirements and balance scenarios; recommend actions to optimise gas allocation.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement and obtain approval for long‑term supply‑demand plans.
• Lead gas pricing analysis, develop pricing formulas, market forecasts and scenario modelling.
• Evaluate supply costs, WACOG, sales prices and margin performance; provide pricing insights to finance, operations and commercial teams.
• Oversee gas sector strategic studies, infrastructure expansion planning and maintenance program reviews.
• Identify and coordinate strategic value‑creation initiatives and assess energy transition impacts on the gas sector.
