Senior Quality Engineer

About the role

ATMTA is building a high‑precision training, research, development and production centre for the energy sector in Muscat. We design and manufacture mission‑critical components for oil and gas applications where failure is not an option. As a Senior Quality Engineer you will own the quality system and ensure every part meets the required codes before it leaves the floor.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the quality engineering function across production, from incoming material to final acceptance, under API Q1 and ISO 9001.
• Run product quality planning, APQP, control plans, first‑article inspection (FAI) and PPAP‑style approval for critical components.
• Review and disposition material certifications and mill test reports to ASTM specifications, ensuring heat traceability and positive material identification.
• Verify compliance with API 6A, API 6D, API 6DSS, API 600, API 602, ASME B16.34, API 598 and NACE MR0175 (ISO 15156) standards.
• Own non‑conformance reports, root‑cause analysis, corrective actions (CAPA, 8D) and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive supplier quality, source inspection and approval of forgings, castings and outsourced processes such as heat treatment and coating.
• Maintain full traceability and certification packages for material, dimensional, NDE and test records.
• Develop apprentice quality engineers through structured on‑the‑job training.

Required profile

• Proven experience owning quality engineering in a manufacturing environment, not just auditing.
• Hands‑on knowledge of API Q1 and ISO 9001, running APQP, FAI, NCR and CAPA daily.
• Fluent in API, ASME and ASTM codes, especially API 6A, API 6D, ASME B16.34 and API 598.
• Strong ability to read drawings and apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Track record of driving root‑cause investigations to closure and writing effective corrective actions.
• Passion for developing people and building a capable quality engineering team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials or Quality Engineering; ASQ CQE certification is a plus.
• Fluency in English.
