Purchasing Engineer

About the role

The Purchasing Engineer will join the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of raw materials at the right quality and price, in line with company standards. This role involves strategic sourcing, market monitoring, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to support manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan material requirements based on reorder levels or MRP provided by the planning department.
• Issue RFQs to approved vendors and evaluate quotations.
• Negotiate with suppliers and drive cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Monitor inventory, shipment tracking in ERP, and ensure purchase orders follow the authority matrix.
• Maintain vendor relationships, develop alternate sources, and conduct annual vendor grading and audits.
• Coordinate with stores, logistics, QC, and production to guarantee on‑time delivery and proper packaging.
• Consolidate monthly MIS reports and ensure matched documents are submitted for finance processing.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s in Accounting; CIPS or related postgraduate diploma is a plus.
• 3‑5 years of procurement experience, preferably in raw‑material or cable industry.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems, INCO terms, tendering and e‑procurement procedures.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and vendor‑management capabilities.
