Cheque Operations Officer - Corporate Banking (Oman National Role)

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious individual to join HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Operations – Cheque Processing team in Oman. The role focuses on prompt, accurate processing of cheque‑related documentation, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulatory guidelines while supporting service level agreements and cut‑off times.

Key responsibilities

• Process complex cheque activities accurately within agreed service level agreements.
• Interpret customer and internal instructions correctly and complete related documentation promptly.
• Prioritise tasks to meet stringent cut‑off times while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Identify common frauds, errors and irregular transactions and take action in line with procedures.
• Maintain awareness of money‑laundering and other legal and regulatory requirements.
• Follow document management, data retention and business continuity requirements.
• Record productivity and efficiency accurately in the E‑TCS system and support colleagues on technical issues.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of operational procedures within a processing environment.
• Working knowledge of local regulatory and compliance requirements, including money‑laundering awareness.
• Clear written and spoken communication in English to resolve queries and process instructions.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality customer service and resolve issues according to Customer Experience Standards.
• Effective planning, prioritisation and time‑management to meet service level agreements and cut‑off times.
• Computer literacy to support accurate processing, reporting and document handling.
• Collaborative attitude, sharing knowledge and providing team coverage when needed.
