Chief Engineer for Hotel Operations

About the role

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance and protection of the hotel property and its assets. This senior position oversees all engineering activities, ensuring safety, compliance and optimal performance of facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily engineering activities, conduct briefings and ensure team alignment.
• Manage preventive maintenance programs and oversee repair of interior and exterior hotel areas.
• Coordinate renovations with design, construction teams and external contractors.
• Control departmental budget, monitor expenses and contribute to annual budget preparation.
• Establish procedures for security and inventory management of tools, equipment and furnishings.
• Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate engineering staff, planning future staffing needs.
• Ensure compliance with fire, life safety and emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Experience in hotel engineering or similar large‑scale facilities management.
• Ability to lead and develop a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and asset protection.
