CompEx Certified E&I Inspector – Immediate Deputation in Oman

About the role

We are seeking a CompEx certified Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Inspector to join our team in Oman on an immediate deputation. The role involves ensuring compliance of all ex‑rated equipment and electrical installations with international hazardous‑area standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue Ex check‑list certificates and maintain the Ex‑Register for all ex‑rated equipment on site.
• Verify IEC 60079‑14 & 60079‑17 installation compliance under the guidance of the Ex Superintendent/Manager.
• Inspect and validate Ex registers and certificates against project documentation.
• Provide on‑site surveillance during installation of Ex‑certified equipment to ensure correct installation.
• Execute the Project Ex Integrity Assurance plan and verify compliance with IEC 60079‑6.
• Review and confirm Electrical Construction Ex Inspection and Test Records (EITRs) are complete and corrective actions are taken.
• Ensure equipment meets IEC 60079‑17, ATEX, NEC and other relevant standards and directives.
• Produce hazardous‑area equipment inspection reports and non‑conformance reports.
• Verify Ex equipment specifications such as area class, zone, technique, gas group, temperature class, ingress protection and environmental requirements.
• Install and inspect cable glands, junction boxes, lighting, motors and instrument terminations in hazardous areas.
• Certify IECEx / ATEX compliance after inspections.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (certificates must be attested).
• Valid Ex qualification such as CompEx or IEC Ex COPC.
• 5–10 years of experience in the oil & gas sector, focusing on hazardous‑area electrical and instrumentation work.
• Proven experience with installation, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of field instrumentation (temperature, flow, level, pressure transmitters, analyzers, condition‑monitoring sensors).
• Ability to interpret instrumentation datasheets, P&IDs, cause‑and‑effect diagrams and loop drawings.
• Experience with ATEX‑certified products and generating quality inspection reports.
• Excellent communication skills.

• CompEx certification (EX01 to EX49).
• Knowledge of IEC 60079‑14, IEC 60079‑17, IEC 60079‑6 and NEC standards.
• ATEX and IECEx compliance expertise.
• Hazardous‑area electrical equipment inspection.
• Installation and inspection of cable glands, junction boxes, lighting, motors and instrument terminations.
• Generation of inspection and non‑conformance reports.
• Calibration, testing and troubleshooting of temperature, flow, level and pressure transmitters, analyzers and condition‑monitoring sensors.
• Interpretation of instrumentation datasheets, P&IDs, cause‑and‑effect diagrams and loop drawings.
