About the role

Mace is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of breakwater and associated marine works for a large‑scale port development. You will be on‑site full time, overseeing quality, safety and progress while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise construction of breakwaters and marine infrastructure, ensuring compliance with contract, design and specifications.
  • Maintain a full‑time on‑site presence to provide hands‑on oversight of delivery and progress.
  • Monitor material quality, including concrete testing, rock supply verification and armour unit placement.
  • Verify quarry sources and ensure all materials meet required standards.
  • Oversee installation of precast armour units and under‑layer profiling.
  • Review contractor inspection requests, approve works or raise non‑conformance reports.
  • Check lines, levels and overall construction accuracy.
  • Coordinate with client, contractors and internal teams to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.
  • Support defect resolution during the liability period and contribute to net‑zero carbon initiatives.

Required profile

  • Registered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of experience, including at least 6 years in port and marine construction.
  • Proven experience on a minimum of two breakwater projects in a similar capacity.
  • Strong site supervision and quality‑assurance capability in marine works.
  • Consultancy background with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
