Construction Superintendent (Mech /HVAC CP4N)

About the role

The Construction Superintendent (Mech /HVAC CP4N) will lead the planning, preparation and execution of mechanical and HVAC fabrication activities for a major oil & gas project in Sohar, Oman. The role requires close coordination with contractors, engineering, quality and HSE teams to ensure safe, efficient and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical/HVAC fabrication from yard preparation through load‑out, ensuring project objectives are met.
• Supervise and control contractor/sub‑contractor activities related to fabrication, mechanical completion, pre‑commissioning and commissioning.
• Ensure all fabrication work complies with project specifications, contractual requirements, applicable codes and international standards.
• Review design deliverables for constructability and technical compliance.
• Monitor workmanship, quality, progress and resource requirements throughout the fabrication process.
• Identify progress or quality concerns and recommend corrective actions.
• Review contractor progress reports, highlighting critical issues, delays and deviations.
• Coordinate mechanical completion, pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities with contractors and subcontractors.
• Participate in risk assessments, pre‑job meetings, technical meetings and other project coordination sessions.
• Maintain close coordination with multidisciplinary construction, quality and HSE teams.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in large offshore decks, topsides or living quarters within a mechanical environment.
• Experience working with multinational teams.
• Strong knowledge of project execution, field management and fabrication activities.
• Hands‑on experience in fabrication, welding, lifting, mechanical testing and completion activities.
• Background with oil & gas companies, contractors, service companies or heavy construction organisations.
• Good knowledge of relevant design standards, specifications, codes and safety requirements.
• Understanding of offshore and onshore facilities, yard operations and risks associated with sour gas and LNG facilities.
• Proven ability to work within large‑scale operating/project organisations.
