Contract Specialist – Human Rights & Contractor Compliance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Contract Specialist to oversee contractor compliance with contractual obligations, labour regulations, human‑rights standards and worker‑welfare requirements in Sohar, Oman.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and monitor contractor compliance with contractual terms, applicable laws and human‑rights standards.
  • Interpret contract requirements and assess contractor performance against compliance obligations.
  • Identify compliance gaps, non‑conformities, risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance registers, trackers, records and supporting documentation.
  • Engage with contractors to resolve issues and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Legal, HR, Sustainability and HSE teams on compliance matters.
  • Monitor employment practices, worker welfare, recruitment, wages, working hours, accommodation, non‑discrimination and freedom of movement.
  • Ensure adherence to requirements preventing forced labour, modern slavery and child labour.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, assessments and worker‑engagement activities.
  • Prepare compliance reports, management updates, performance summaries and recommendations.
  • Draft and manage contractor correspondence including compliance notices and corrective‑action communications.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Sustainability or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in contract administration, contractor compliance, labour compliance, human‑rights or worker‑welfare.
  • Experience in construction, mining, industrial or infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Oman Labour Law and worker‑welfare requirements.
  • Strong understanding of international human‑rights standards, ethical recruitment, modern slavery and forced‑labour regulations.
  • Experience in compliance auditing, corrective‑action management and contractor performance monitoring.
  • Excellent contract review, communication, reporting, stakeholder‑management and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage contractor engagements and sensitive compliance matters with professionalism and integrity.
