Cost Control Engineer

About the role

Galfar Engg. & Contracting SAOG is hiring a full-time Cost Control Engineer in Muscat. The role oversees project budgets, monitors costs against plan and provides cost control advice to the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project budgets, compare actual costs with budget and analyse major deviations
• Carry out activity-based cost analysis and prepare the master budget
• Prepare monthly costing against scheduled work with resource estimation and monitoring
• Set resource productivity benchmarks for major activities and resources and monitor them against actuals
• Analyse material, manpower, plant, fuel and subcontract costs daily and allocate them to prime activities
• Raise red flags and major risks based on costs incurred and other financial criteria
• Analyse subcontract costs and compare them with budgeted amounts
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and verify supplier and subcontractor invoices and claims
• Coordinate with procurement to check purchases against budget
• Prepare and update the Cost to Complete (CTC) quarterly and provide cost deviation reports and improvement measures
• Develop monthly financial project reports with variance analysis for management review

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience as a cost controller with a main contracting company (mandatory)
