Duty Technician

About the role

The Duty Technician joins the Engineering team at Mandarin Oriental Muscat, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all hotel plant and equipment. This position covers daily maintenance, emergency response and supports the Duty Engineer when required.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safe condition of all plant rooms, equipment and work areas.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating and entertainment systems.
• Respond to fire, life, health and safety incidents and act as part of the Emergency Response Team.
• Record maintenance activities in the hotel’s Planned Maintenance Programme.
• Assist guests, patrons and staff with technical issues and provide courteous service.
• Support the Duty Engineer and undertake assigned projects or training activities.

Required profile

• Clean, neat and tidy personal presentation at all times.
• Professional, service‑oriented attitude when dealing with guests and colleagues.
• Ability to work shifts as scheduled and follow hotel emergency procedures.
• Willingness to learn and develop within the hospitality engineering environment.

Required skills

• Air‑conditioning and refrigeration equipment maintenance.
• Electrical and mechanical services knowledge.
• Plumbing and heating system competence.
• Fire, life, health and safety standards awareness.
• Experience with entertainment, kitchen, lighting and general hotel equipment.
