Executive Auditor – Financial Audit

About the role

The Central Bank of Oman seeks an experienced Executive Auditor to independently plan, execute and support complex financial and investment audit assignments, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and compliance with standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a risk‑based Financial Audit Plan, conduct financial and investment risk assessments.
• Lead audits of financial statements, accounting processes, investment, reserve management and treasury activities, assessing compliance with IFRS and internal policies.
• Evaluate front‑, middle‑ and back‑office controls, segregation of duties, limit monitoring and exception management.
• Prepare audit observations, root‑cause analysis and practical recommendations, and discuss findings with stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and review of working papers for other auditors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; Master’s degree and professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CA, CIA, CFA, CMA) strongly preferred.
• 8‑12 years of experience, with at least 5 years in direct financial audit, preferably in a bank or central bank.
• Demonstrated experience auditing financial statements, IFRS compliance, internal financial and investment controls.
• Exposure to investment, treasury, reserve management or financial markets is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS and internal accounting policies.
• Data analytics and audit‑tool techniques for transaction testing and continuous auditing.
• Understanding of investment operations such as trade processing, settlement, custody and portfolio reporting.
