Field Service Engineer – Security & Inspection Products

About the role

The Field Service Engineer will install, service and maintain Varex Imaging Security & Inspection Products worldwide, providing on‑site and remote technical assistance. Extensive travel, often on short notice, is required to meet contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair security and inspection equipment to the highest standards.
• Instruct customers on operation and maintenance of the products.
• Provide phone support and troubleshooting in collaboration with senior engineers and specialists.
• Report activities, complete service reports, timesheets and expense forms promptly.
• Communicate technical matters with customers and prepare special reports on feedback, sales prospects and competition.
• Identify recurring safety or costly repair issues and escalate to senior support staff.

Required profile

• Graduate of a technical institute or university in electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics or equivalent experience.
• Military basic electronics training is a plus.
• Willingness to travel extensively, work on short notice and outside standard hours.
• Fluent in English and the local language.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an Oscilloscope and Digital Voltmeter (DVM).
• Ability to read schematics and perform PLC logic programming.
• Microsoft Word, Excel (advanced) and PowerPoint.
• Use of email, scheduling tools and live‑meeting platforms.
• Experience with Salesforce for service reporting; SAP knowledge is an advantage.
• Understanding of risk‑assessment procedures and Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) certification.
