Freelance IT Support Engineer – Data Center (Muscat)

About the role

FingTap Solutions is seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer for a freelance assignment based in Muscat, Oman. The role is centred on a Data Center Installation Project, requiring hands‑on hardware setup, network infrastructure deployment and close coordination with on‑site and remote technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physical rack mounting, rack exchanges, cabling, and server installation.
• Replace and install hardware components as required.
• Configure, troubleshoot and support network devices, switches, routers and overall IT network infrastructure.
• Conduct initial hardware diagnostics, cable tracing, labeling and signal testing to ensure optimal operation.
• Collaborate with on‑site technical staff and remote engineers to follow deployment plans and project specifications.
• Maintain detailed documentation of rack layouts, asset tags, maintenance activities and completed installations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data‑center or IT support environments.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented and able to work independently on freelance contracts.
• Strong communication skills for coordination with vendors and project teams.
