Head of Business Development & Research

About the role

We are looking for a senior investment professional to head the Business Development & Research function for a prestigious client in Muscat. The role combines strategic business development, investment research and portfolio management to drive growth and deliver high‑impact investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic direction of the Business Development & Research function.
• Lead investment research, financial modelling and equity valuation activities.
• Monitor portfolio performance and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
• Identify and evaluate new business growth opportunities.
• Conduct financial, commercial and market analysis to support strategic initiatives.
• Prepare executive reports, presentations and investment recommendations.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of investment and research professionals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Investment Management or related field (Master’s/MBA advantageous).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in investment management, corporate finance, private equity, sovereign wealth funds, asset management or strategic investment.
• Proven track record leading business development, investment research and portfolio management functions.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to evaluate investment opportunities.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
• Demonstrated leadership managing multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
• Fluent written and verbal English; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Experience with Bloomberg or similar financial platforms.
