HSE Engineer

About the role

The HSE Engineer will lead the implementation, monitoring and enforcement of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements across maritime construction and supervision activities for the AE Maritime department. The role ensures compliance with UAE regulations, IMO standards and internal WSP policies while promoting a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HSE plans, procedures and risk assessments for maritime projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety observations on marine and offshore works.
• Coordinate incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action tracking.
• Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks and awareness sessions to project teams and subcontractors.
• Monitor and report HSE performance metrics, KPIs and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 13 years of HSE experience in maritime, offshore or marine construction environments.
• Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH or CSP.
• Strong knowledge of UAE labour law, civil‑defence regulations and IMO guidelines.
• Excellent communication and training delivery skills in English; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HSE management software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and audits.
• Capability to work on offshore sites and obtain necessary medical clearances.
