Investment Director – Private Markets & Direct Investments

About the role

A confidential, owner‑led investment group in Muscat is creating a dedicated private‑investment function. The Investment Director will report directly to the CEO and lead the evaluation, execution and management of private‑market and direct‑investment opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and execute direct investments, acquisitions, minority stakes, co‑investments and joint ventures, building financial models and leading commercial due diligence.
• Evaluate and monitor private‑equity, credit, real‑estate and infrastructure fund allocations, conducting manager due diligence and recommending portfolio allocations.
• Oversee existing portfolio companies, reviewing performance, valuations and funding needs, and advising on hold, refinance, restructure or exit decisions.
• Construct and report on portfolio exposure, cash‑flow forecasts and investment policies, preparing papers for the CEO and Investment Committee.
• Recruit and develop a Junior Investment Analyst while maintaining personal accountability for investment analysis and execution.

Required profile

• Typically 10+ years of buy‑side investment experience in private markets, preferably with an international private‑equity or investment firm.
• Proven track record in direct‑investment execution and private‑market fund selection, with strong commercial judgement and discretion.
• Experience across cross‑border transactions; exposure to Oman or the GCC region is advantageous.
• Relevant university degree; CFA, CAIA or similar postgraduate qualification is a plus.
