VAT Manager

About the role

KPMG is seeking an experienced VAT Manager to lead VAT compliance and advisory engagements in Oman, including e‑invoicing implementation projects. The role combines technical tax expertise with project management to deliver high‑quality solutions for local and international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage VAT compliance and advisory engagements, ensuring timely, high‑quality deliverables.
• Lead e‑invoicing implementation projects and oversee VAT returns, registrations, refunds, and reconciliations under Omani legislation.
• Provide technical advice on complex VAT matters, including cross‑border transactions, input tax recovery, and reverse charge mechanisms.
• Support clients during tax audits, assessments, and disputes with the Oman Tax Authority.
• Conduct VAT health checks, risk assessments, and recommend process improvements and governance controls.
• Monitor legislative changes in Oman and the GCC and communicate implications to clients.
• Plan engagements, manage budgets, timelines, billing, and resource allocation.
• Develop client relationships, identify business development opportunities, and coach junior team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Law or related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, CTA, ADIT or equivalent (preferred).
• 7–8 years of VAT or indirect tax experience, preferably in a Big Four or professional services firm.
• Strong knowledge of Omani VAT legislation and practical experience advising GCC clients.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
