Irrigation & Piping Engineer

About the role

The client is seeking an Irrigation & Piping Engineer to own the operation, maintenance and technical management of irrigation networks and associated piping systems for onsite projects in Muscat. The role ensures water distribution assets are safe, reliable and compliant, directly impacting uptime, water efficiency and service continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain irrigation networks, pumping stations and associated piping systems across assigned sites.
• Plan and track preventive maintenance for pumps, valves, controllers, filters and pipelines.
• Diagnose faults, isolate causes quickly and restore service with safe temporary measures.
• Execute corrective maintenance, coordinating shutdowns to minimise disruption.
• Oversee installation works, including tie‑ins, valve chambers, thrust blocks and supports.
• Lead testing and commissioning activities such as pressure testing, flushing, disinfection and functional checks.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation before execution.
• Inspect site works for workmanship and compliance with standards.
• Maintain accurate records: maintenance logs, test results, as‑built mark‑ups and asset registers.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for spares procurement and specialist support.
• Investigate recurring failures and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• 5 to 8 years of experience in irrigation networks and associated piping systems within landscaping, infrastructure, utilities or public‑realm projects.
• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Mechanical or Civil Engineering).
• Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems, pumps, valves and pipelines.
• Proven capability in installation supervision, testing and commissioning of irrigation or water piping works.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hydraulic performance issues, leaks and equipment failures.
• Experience delivering preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for mechanical equipment and pipe networks.
