About the role
The Central Bank of Oman is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Islamic Banking Executive to support the development and enhancement of Oman’s Islamic financial market. The role involves formulating strategies, policies, and Shari’a‑compliant financial instruments while coordinating with a wide range of domestic and international stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in developing strategies, policies, and Shari’a‑compliant monetary and financial instruments to grow the Islamic financial market.
- Support initiatives to strengthen primary and secondary markets for Sukuk and other Islamic instruments in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and relevant regulators.
- Conduct research, analytical studies, and market assessments on Islamic finance trends to inform policy formulation.
- Help design Shari’a‑compliant financial products that promote market deepening, financial inclusion, and sustainable finance.
- Coordinate with internal departments, government ministries, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to implement market development initiatives.
- Prepare internal memoranda, analytical reports, and policy papers for senior management and committees.
- Plan and execute outreach and promotional activities to raise awareness of government Sukuk and Islamic instruments among regional and international investors.
- Organise and participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, and other market‑development events.
- Facilitate cooperation with international standard‑setting bodies such as IFSB and AAOIFI.
- Represent the Central Bank in regional and international forums on Islamic finance, Shari’a governance, and best practices.
- Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and training support to junior staff and Omani employees.
- Perform any other duties related to Islamic financial market development as assigned.
Required profile
- Graduate or Post‑Graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated competence, commitment, and self‑motivation.
- Strong interest in Islamic finance and Shari’a‑compliant financial instruments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government ministries, regulators, and international stakeholders.
