Lighting & Smart Home Design Engineer (Sales and Design)

About the role

CASALUX, the luxury showroom of Mediterranean Gate Business & Trading LLC in Muscat, is looking for a Lighting & Smart Home Design Engineer to lead low-voltage lighting design and smart-home solutions for client projects and for the showroom itself. The role combines a designer's eye for light with solid technical command of LED systems and smart-home automation, working closely with the Interior Designer - Sales team from concept to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop lighting concepts for residential, hospitality and commercial projects, defining layers, colour temperature, CRI, beam angles and glare control, and select luminaires and fittings from the showroom's portfolio
• Prepare mood boards, renders and visualisations (DIALux, Relux, SketchUp, 3ds Max or equivalent)
• Design smart-home solutions covering lighting control, motorised curtains, HVAC, audio, video intercom, access control, CCTV and energy monitoring, including wiring diagrams, schedules and scene programming
• Commission smart-home systems on site and train clients, and act as technical authority for the smart-home brands represented
• Produce lighting layouts, circuit and zoning plans, driver schedules and bills of quantities in AutoCAD / Revit, and prepare quotations and technical specifications
• Ensure compliance with IEC / Omani regulations and IP ratings, and coordinate with MEP and ELV consultants
• Design dimming and control solutions (0-10V, DALI, TRIAC, RGBW, KNX) and support installation and commissioning
• Support client meetings, quotations and site surveys, and own the lighting and demo displays in the showroom, including the remote-controlled shower demo zone
• Coordinate logistics, procurement and finance on lead times and stock, and report on projects and proposals to the Showroom Manager

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics / Communications Engineering, Lighting Design or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in lighting design and low-voltage LED systems, including smart-home design and commissioning, preferably with a brand, showroom, consultancy or high-end fit-out contractor
• Strong portfolio of residential, hospitality or retail lighting and automation projects
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a strong advantage; Omani driving licence preferred

Required skills

• DIALux (or Relux), AutoCAD and Revit
• LED drivers, DALI / 0-10V / TRIAC dimming, RGBW and tunable-white systems
• Smart-home protocols (KNX, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Matter / Thread) and integration with Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon Alexa; KNX Partner certification is a plus
• Home networking and ELV systems (intercom, CCTV, access control)
