Senior Mechanical Quality Control Engineer

About the role

EDECS is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Quality Control Engineer to implement the Project Quality Plan (PQP), monitor project activities for compliance with quality standards and specifications, and oversee mechanical quality control processes so that project requirements are delivered successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings and method statements, and prepare inspection and testing checklists.
• Maintain quality records according to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and contract documents, handing over originals to the Document and Data Controller.
• Verify that construction teams and subcontractors use current drawings and that superseded ones are not used.
• Carry out daily site inspections and walkthroughs in line with ITPs, and respond to Requests for Inspection (RFIs).
• Ensure completed works match approved drawings and specifications and are ready for final inspection by the Site Supervision Consultant.
• Follow up on corrective actions until they are completed before resubmitting work for inspection.
• Monitor storage areas, report unacceptable storage practices to the Project Quality Manager and follow up on corrective actions.
• Organise quality-related training for site teams and subcontractors, attend quality control meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in the related field.
• Proven experience implementing Project Quality Plans (PQPs) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, project specifications, method statements and material submittals.
• Good understanding of quality assurance and quality control procedures, non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Knowledge of material handling, storage, preservation and site quality control procedures.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
