Mechanical Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for executing and monitoring maintenance activities in the Grinding and Mixing area. The role ensures equipment availability to meet production targets while adhering to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance (preventive, corrective, shutdown) on mills, mixers, conveyors, bucket elevators, pneumatic systems, silos, scrubbers, thickeners, and separators.
• Follow Vale’s HSE guidelines, conduct risk reviews, raise safety issues, and maintain a 5S‑organized work area.
• Plan, schedule, and execute work orders; record activity closures in SAP and monitor KPI compliance.
• Inspect equipment and incoming materials, evaluate critical spare parts, and support reliability investigations (RCS/RCA).
• Provide technical advice to junior staff, interpret drawings and work instructions, and deliver training on new standards.
• Manage contracts according to company procedures and propose continuous‑improvement initiatives (Kaizen, SOP updates).

Required profile

• Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of HSE practices and ability to work safely under Vale Production System (VPS).
• Proficiency with SAP for work‑order management and KPI tracking.
• Ability to analyze failures, conduct root‑cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
• Good communication skills for stakeholder coordination and technical training.
