On‑Site Ovation Engineer

About the role

An Ovation Engineer is required to provide on‑site preventive maintenance, system health checks and troubleshooting for Emerson Ovation DCS at a reputable client in Muscat.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive maintenance of Ovation controllers, workstations, servers, network and power supplies according to the PM plan.
• Perform system health checks, diagnostics, backups and produce PM reports.
• Troubleshoot Ovation hardware, modules, workstations and network issues on site.
• Execute minor logic, graphics and database modifications using Ovation Developer Studio under PTW and MOC.
• Support third‑party communication checks (Modbus, Profibus, OPC) and system upgrades, commissioning and SAT activities.
• Prepare findings and recommendations for the client and coordinate with client operations while following HSE procedures.
• Assist OT cybersecurity tasks such as patching, antivirus updates, backups and user management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of DCS experience with hands‑on Emerson Ovation exposure.
• Minimum 2 years of on‑site Ovation preventive maintenance/support.
• Commissioning experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Emerson Ovation DCS hardware and software (controllers, Developer Studio, Operator Station).
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS at site.
• Knowledge of Ovation network, redundancy and third‑party protocols (Modbus, Profibus, OPC).
• Understanding of instrumentation, control loops and interlocks.
• Basic OT cybersecurity and virtualization knowledge (preferred).
