Operational Risk Specialist – Central Bank

About the role

The Operational Risk Specialist will lead the identification, assessment, monitoring and mitigation of operational risks across the Central Bank of Oman. Working closely with business units, the role supports the implementation of the bank’s operational risk framework and promotes a risk‑aware culture throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and monitor operational risks across all business units.
• Conduct Risk and Control Self‑Assessments (RCSA) and facilitate stakeholder workshops.
• Maintain and update the operational risk register and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
• Investigate operational risk incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Track and report operational loss events and prepare risk dashboards for senior management.
• Review business processes, recommend improvements and support internal control strengthening.
• Contribute to business continuity planning and operational resilience initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and risk management standards.
• Provide guidance and training on operational risk practices to business units.
• Collaborate with Internal Audit, Compliance, Information Security and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, risk management, accounting or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in operational risk, enterprise risk management, internal audit, compliance or internal controls.
• Experience in banking, financial services or large corporate environments is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CRMP, FRM, PRM or ORM‑related certifications are a plus.
