Planning Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Planning Engineer to develop, maintain and update detailed construction schedules for medium to large‑scale projects. The role requires close coordination with project managers, consultants, contractors and site teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop baseline programmes, detailed work schedules and short‑term look‑ahead plans.
• Monitor progress against approved schedules, identify delays, critical activities and potential risks.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and stakeholders.
• Analyse performance, recommend corrective actions and support recovery programmes.
• Review contractor programmes, progress updates and extension of time (EOT) claims.
• Track milestones, critical paths, resources, procurement and construction activities.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide planning updates.
• Identify program risks and develop mitigation and recovery strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Planning Engineer on medium to large construction or real‑estate development projects.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring and project controls.
• Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and construction drawings.
• Must be based in Oman.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Good knowledge of MS Project.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
