Principal Engineer - Quality Assurance (TSF)

About the role

The Principal Engineer – Quality Assurance will provide on‑site CQA leadership for the construction of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF). You will ensure that all earthworks, liner systems, drainage and related infrastructure are built in strict compliance with issued‑for‑construction drawings, technical specifications and international dam standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a full‑time presence during critical construction phases such as earthworks, liner installation and drainage systems.
• Independently verify compliance against approved design, specifications and QA plans; conduct regular inspections of high‑risk activities.
• Witness and sign‑off hold points, inspection checkpoints and non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
• Review contractor QA/QC documentation, including Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and method statements.
• Oversee liner system installation, panel layout, seam testing (NDT and destructive) and welding procedures.
• Verify field and laboratory testing for density, moisture, material gradation and geomembrane seam integrity.
• Coordinate corrective actions with contractors and ensure closure of NCRs before acceptance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering.
• Extensive experience with TSF design, construction practices and QA/QC procedures.
• Strong knowledge of international dam and tailings standards (ICOLD, ANCOLD, GISTM).
