Resident Engineer

About the role

The Resident Engineer will lead on‑site supervision and management of a large dam construction project in Oman. This role ensures that all works are carried out to approved designs, specifications and contractual obligations while upholding the highest safety, quality and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all on‑site construction activities for the dam project.
• Ensure compliance with design specifications, technical standards and contractual requirements.
• Monitor progress and drive timely completion of project milestones.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants and client representatives to resolve technical and construction issues.
• Review and approve method statements, shop drawings and material submittals.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits.
• Manage site engineers, inspectors and other technical staff.
• Prepare and submit progress reports, non‑conformance reports and related documentation.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental regulations on site.
• Participate in project meetings and provide expert technical advice.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (master’s preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of experience supervising dam works.
• Proven experience managing large dam projects.
• Strong knowledge of dam engineering principles, hydrology, geotechnical engineering and construction methodologies.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ICOLD, ASTM, BS and ISO.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency with project management tools and construction software.
• Preferred certifications: PMP or equivalent, membership in a recognized engineering body (e.g., ICE, ASCE).
