Rigger – Field Services

About the role

GE Vernova’s FieldCore team is seeking a skilled Rigger to support the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of power generation equipment and oilfield pumping units. The role involves safely moving and positioning heavy loads in challenging environments where conventional material handling equipment cannot operate.

Key responsibilities

• Signal or verbally direct crew members during hoisting and load movement to ensure safety.
• Test rigging setups for safety and reliability before operation.
• Attach loads using appropriate rigging hardware such as slings, shackles, chokers, and winches.
• Select and install gear based on load weight, size, and site constraints.
• Control movement of equipment through narrow or confined spaces using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and related tools.
• Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads using multi‑point suspension techniques.
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to position or support heavy components.
• Install pulleys and blocks on overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Dismantle, clean, and store rigging equipment after use.

Required profile

• Ability to follow directions from crew chief or field supervisor.
• Strong focus on safety and adherence to rigging standards.
• Physical capability to work in adverse weather and confined spaces.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Experience using slings, shackles, chokers, winches.
• Knowledge of chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames.
• Ability to apply multi‑point suspension techniques.
• Skill in handling rigging lines, hoists, pulling gear.
• Installation of pulleys, blocks, bolts, and clamps.
