About the role
The Welding Inspector will oversee welding and related fabrication activities within an offshore fabrication yard, ensuring all work complies with approved drawings, welding procedures, project specifications and international codes. The role is critical for maintaining weld quality, safety and readiness for client and third‑party inspections.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect welding activities including fit‑up, root pass, intermediate runs and final welds for offshore structures.
- Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Inspection Test Plans (ITP), method statements and project specifications.
- Ensure correct welding parameters, pre‑heat, inter‑pass temperature and welding sequence are followed.
- Monitor joint preparation, alignment, cleanliness and backing arrangements prior to welding.
