SCMS and Cybersecurity Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Siemens is looking for a SCMS and Cybersecurity Commissioning Engineer to join its Smart Infrastructure Customer Services team in Muscat, Oman. The role involves commissioning Substation Control and Monitoring Systems (SCMS) and implementing cybersecurity measures for substation automation projects across the Middle East. The engineer will work closely with customers, vendors and internal teams to deliver reliable, secure power distribution solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and test Bay Control Units (BCUs), RTUs/PLCs and SCMS systems.
• Develop application solutions using IEC61850, Modbus, Profibus, IEC 101, IEC 104.
• Design, configure, conduct FAT and commissioning of cybersecurity for substation automation.
• Act as primary customer interface for troubleshooting and commissioning support.
• Assist in preparing bills of materials and technical comments for order proposals.
• Design, develop, implement, test and commission protection and control schemes.
• Prepare and execute Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures for retrofit applications.
• Travel to job sites, customer offices and vendor factories (≈75% of time).
• Deliver training on SCMS systems to customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in substation automation and cybersecurity.
• Strong knowledge of substation network topology (ring/star) and redundancy protocols (RSTP, PRP, HSR).
• Experience with large IEC61850 networks and HMI/SCADA parameterisation.
• Ability to develop and test communication protocol configurations.
