Senior Bank Examiner – On‑site Financial Institution Examiner

About the role

The Central Bank of Oman is looking for a competent, committed and self‑motivated Omani professional to join its supervisory team. The role focuses on conducting on‑site examinations of banks and other financial institutions in line with the risk‑based supervision framework.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute on‑site examinations of banks and financial institutions according to the annual supervisory plan.
• Prepare and submit detailed examination reports and draft findings for internal and external stakeholders.
• Draft exception reports and coordinate management responses from examined institutions.
• Organise and lead exit meetings, presenting preliminary results and early‑warning signals to senior management.
• Contribute to the development and updating of banking policies, regulations, guidelines and circulars.
• Review banking and payment‑related legislation and recommend amendments where needed.
• Assess licensing applications, branch expansions, new products, mergers, acquisitions and other regulatory matters.
• Gather insights from examinations to suggest regulatory improvements and support financial sector development initiatives.

Required profile

• Omani nationality with a strong commitment to public service.
• Proven experience in bank supervision, on‑site examinations or related regulatory functions.
• Excellent analytical abilities and a solid understanding of risk‑based supervision principles.
• Strong communication skills for preparing reports and conducting stakeholder meetings.
