Senior Internal Auditor (Construction Industry)

About the role

Vertex Business Solutions, a consulting firm serving clients in Oman and across the GCC, is hiring a Senior Internal Auditor focused on the construction industry. The role leads or takes part in internal audit engagements that assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes, and includes mentoring junior staff and ensuring audit quality.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute internal audit assignments independently or as part of a team
• Evaluate the design and operation of internal controls and identify areas for improvement
• Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, risks and recommendations, and follow up on management's implementation of them
• Assist in developing audit plans and programs, and conduct risk assessments for the annual audit plan
• Ensure compliance with internal audit standards and regulatory requirements
• Mentor junior auditors and communicate findings to management and stakeholders
• Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations and internal control frameworks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• CPA, CIA or other relevant certifications preferred
• 3-7 years of internal audit experience, preferably in construction, contracting or similar industries
• Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, auditing standards and regulatory requirements
• Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills, plus leadership and team management capabilities
