Senior Process Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

The Senior Process Engineer supports the development of new and existing oil and gas facilities and refineries by carrying out front-end design and detailed engineering. The position is based in Muscat and involves process simulation, design deliverables and quality system compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out process simulations and optimization studies for selected projects and prepare Process Flow Schemes with heat and mass balances.
• Perform detailed process engineering work and generate deliverables across all design phases, including interpretation of standards.
• Review process design work done by third-party vendors and take part in HAZOPs, safety and facility reviews and audits.
• Train and encourage the development of Omani staff to fill process and systems engineering roles.
• Understand the requirements of the office quality system and ensure they are met.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Eng.) and/or membership of an internationally recognized professional institute.
• Minimum 8-10 years of upstream oil and gas, refinery and petrochemical experience, including at least 3 years of process engineering experience with engineering consultancies.

Required skills

• Process simulation and optimization.
• Use of process software such as HYSYS, PROII, Pipesim and Flarenet.
