Senior Specialist Financial Accounting

About the role

This Senior Specialist Financial Accounting position executes financial accounting activities within the scope of the Manager Financial Accounting, acting as a senior specialist and team player. It covers non-standard accounting, monthly, quarterly and annual closing and consolidation, group accounting standards and local IFRS, and contributes to maintaining the Company Accounting Policy Manual. The role works in an office environment with intensive computer use and occasional site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Execute monthly, quarterly, half-year and year-end management and group reporting, including statutory and consolidation
• Prepare external reporting according to local (IFRS) and CMA/MSX/Group guidelines
• Run closing processes, maintain close calendars and consolidation procedures and controls
• Compile consolidated balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and other financial statements
• Build a consolidated reporting package covering OQ RPI, Logistics, Polymer Marketing and International Offices statutory and government reporting
• Work with internal, state and statutory auditors and coordinate with treasury, commercial, operations, legal and tax departments
• Assist in developing the accounting manual, compiling the financial accounting budget and monitoring performance against it
• Handle non-standard accounting such as impairment tests, employee benefits, site restoration and intangibles, and support technical accounting papers on capitalization, investments, derivatives and mergers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field; professional accounting certification desirable
• 6-8 years of relevant experience for Senior Specialist, 5+ years for Specialist; similar role experience preferred
• Oil and gas / energy industry experience is essential
• Exceptional written, spoken and reading English; native Arabic is desirable

Required skills

• Deep understanding of financial reporting and analysis
• Experience with third parties such as state audit, MoF, lenders and investors
• Proven effectiveness in accounts payable execution
• Knowledge of PC software and MS Office applications
