Senior Auditor

About the role

OQ is hiring a Senior Auditor for its Internal Audit department in Salalah, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit. The role executes internal audit activities and acts as owner of IA standards and protocols, promoting high-quality auditing, business improvement and risk mitigation in line with OQ's mission, vision, values and strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, supervise and report on specific audit assignments, developing comprehensive audit programs covering all objectives and risks.
• Ensure audits are completed as assigned and on time, and direct and supervise assigned auditors.
• Use IA standards, modern audit methods and computerised tools including mass data analysis, and follow HOIA instructions during field work.
• Update the Assurance Audit Management System with conditions, criteria, root causes, consequences and recommendations, and maintain work papers and evidence in real time.
• Draft audit reports, follow up on findings and corrective actions, and run the QAIP quality assurance programme after each engagement.
• Mentor and train auditors, keep knowledge of corporate processes and emerging audit issues, and update the Risk and Control Matrix.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; ACCA, CIA, CISA or equivalent is an added advantage.
• 6+ years of progressive experience; experience with audit firms or in auditing is an added advantage.
• Sound understanding of audit principles and best practices.
• Excellent written, reading and spoken English (required); native Arabic is desirable.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of internal audit standards and techniques; Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with S-M-A-R-T recommendations.
• Basic knowledge of IT systems and audit data analytics tools; strong MS Office skills.
• Clear communication of findings and recommendations to auditees.
