Senior Static & Piping Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Senior Static & Piping Engineer for a one‑year secondment on the NGLE project in Muscat, Oman. The role involves delivering mechanical and static/piping engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from design through construction, commissioning and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Apply mechanical and static/piping engineering standards, codes and best practices (ASME, API, etc.) to project deliverables.
• Challenge design assumptions, drive value‑engineering initiatives and propose cost‑effective solutions.
• Support and review engineering deliverables, compile and analyse contractor reports, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Lead and participate in engineering review meetings, record decisions and manage document turnover.
• Assist in equipment selection, procurement processes and technical coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical, static and piping engineering within the oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical sectors.
• Proven track record on EPC projects, including design, construction, commissioning and operational phases.
• Strong knowledge of relevant design codes (ASME, API) and ability to interpret and apply them.
• Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers and communicate effectively with contractors.
