Technical and Process Manager, Biogas and Biogas-to-Energy

About the role

Veolia Oman, which delivers integrated water, waste and energy services, is looking for a Technical and Process Manager for its landfill gas, biogas, biogas-to-energy and leachate treatment operations. The role covers regional operational leadership, project management, HSE and environmental compliance, maintenance coordination, budget management and continuous improvement across all Veolia sites in Oman.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the operation, optimization, construction, commissioning and performance of landfill gas, biogas, biogas-to-energy and leachate treatment systems, and lead site managers, supervisors, operators, technicians and contractors
• Manage landfill gas collection, treatment, flaring and biogas utilization, including gas wells, pipelines, blowers, condensate systems, flares and energy recovery systems
• Manage biogas-to-energy projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, handover and operation, including performance testing and start-up
• Lead construction, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of new gas, biogas, treatment and energy systems, ensuring compliance with designs, quality standards and HSE procedures
• Oversee leachate collection, pumping, storage, treatment and disposal, and lead the process and operational requirements for new leachate treatment plants
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits and HSE standards, control methane emissions, gas leaks, fires, spills and other risks, and run emergency drills
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, asset registers, spare parts and equipment upgrades
• Establish regional reporting, review operational data and prepare technical, environmental, project and management reports
• Prepare and manage operating, maintenance, project and capital budgets, and support procurement, tender reviews and contractor selection

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5 years of experience in landfill gas, biogas-to-energy, leachate treatment or waste-to-energy operations and projects
• Experience managing teams, contractors, budgets and multi-site operations
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage; willingness to travel between sites
