Traffic Management Specialist

About the role

The Traffic Management Specialist coordinates the movement of Global Prepositioned Material Services (GPMS) cargo to worldwide destinations by air, land, and sea. This role ensures all shipments comply with international and U.S. transportation regulations, Department of Defense guidance, and internal quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, accept, and process outbound/inbound cargo documentation (DD Form 1149/1348-1) for the Defense Transportation System.
• Verify nomenclature, quantity, Transportation Control Numbers, account codes, hazardous/classified material certifications, and other essential data.
• Select the most efficient mode of shipment, assign commodity codes, and manage government transportation fund obligations.
• Prepare shipping documents, generate labels, issue truck manifests, and maintain manifest logs.
• Enter transportation data accurately into systems such as CMOS, GATES, or IBS.
• Inspect hazardous materials for proper packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation per AFMAN 24-604, 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations.

Required profile

• Knowledge of International Trade and Arms Regulations (ITAR) and related compliance requirements.
• Ability to complete mandatory training courses (AMMO‑43, AMMO‑62, WPM certification).
• Familiarity with Department of Defense logistics processes and quality management systems (ISO 9001).
