Welding Superintendent

About the role

The Welding Superintendent will lead all welding activities on site, ensuring that structural, piping and equipment welds are executed to the highest quality standards and in line with project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise daily and weekly welding operations for jackets, topsides, decks and, where applicable, piping and equipment.
• Verify that all welding is performed according to approved WPS, PQR and project specifications.
• Monitor fit‑up, welding execution and joint completion, and manage weld quality and defect rates.
• Collaborate with the Planning team to align welding work with the overall project timeline.
• Ensure readiness of drawings, consumables, qualified welders and equipment before each shift.
• Maintain welder qualification records and certify welders for specific processes and material grades.
• Control consumable usage, calibrate welding machines, and oversee electrode baking and storage.
• Track productivity metrics and implement measures to reduce rework and rejection rates.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising large‑scale welding projects in the construction or offshore sector.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes such as ASME, AWS, API and ISO.
• Ability to read and interpret welding drawings and specifications.
• Excellent coordination skills to work with planning, QA/QC and procurement teams.

• Non‑Destructive Testing methods: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)
• Fit‑up and visual inspection techniques
• Welding equipment calibration and maintenance
• Welding consumables management (electrodes, flux, filler wires, gases)
