Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer leads the hotel’s engineering and maintenance team, ensuring that all building systems, equipment and assets are kept in optimal condition. Working within a defined budget, the role combines strategic planning, hands‑on problem solving and leadership to support the hotel’s operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct, control and coordinate all maintenance activities across the property, including audio‑visual, mechanical & electrical, boiler, HVAC, electrical distribution, generators, water, fire safety, kitchen, cold‑store and laundry equipment.
• Manage the engineering team’s performance, recruitment, training, scheduling and development.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security and environmental standards, including Earth Check certification requirements.
• Develop and implement preventive‑maintenance programmes and provide permanent solutions for recurring defects.
• Prepare and present accurate maintenance data for audits and senior management.
• Maintain the overall condition of the hotel’s fixtures, furniture, installations and systems while respecting budget constraints.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in hotel engineering or large‑scale property maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of hotel assets, equipment and building structures.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Excellent understanding of safety, security and environmental regulations.
• Strategic mindset to advise on long‑term operational effectiveness.
