Aircraft Painter – F-16 Surface Preparation & Painting

About the role

The Aircraft Painter (F-16) will join Amentum’s aerospace team, reporting to the Program Manager. The role focuses on preparing, treating, and painting assigned F-16 aircraft and related components, ensuring compliance with military standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform surface preparation, treatment, and painting of aircraft panels, components, and support equipment.
• Precisely apply paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and related tools.
• Mask and cover areas not to be painted and apply vinyl graphics to aircraft surfaces.
• Follow FMS-2026 Form 2, Type 1 procedures for F-16 “Have Glass” surface refinishing.
• Interpret and adhere to USAF military publications, technical orders, and diagrams.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years of proven experience as a paint technician, including painting, maintenance, and finish work.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated experience with FMS-2026 F-16 “Have Glass” paint application procedures.
• Working knowledge of USAF military publications and Technical Orders.
• Ability to lead, train, and mentor other technicians in the F-16 paint specialty.
