APG Crew Chief – F-16 Aircraft Maintenance

About the role

The APG Crew Chief is responsible for keeping F-16 aircraft in safe, operational condition by performing and supervising a full range of maintenance activities. This role includes hands‑on work, troubleshooting, inspections, and coordination of support equipment and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and major maintenance such as landing‑gear replacement, flight‑control replacement, and periodical inspections.
• Conduct end‑of‑runway, post‑flight, pre‑flight, thru‑flight, and phase inspections.
• Supervise flight chief, expediter, crew chief, repair, reclamation, quality‑assurance, and maintenance‑support functions.
• Execute integrated combat turns, hot‑pit refuels, and ground‑handling operations.
• Diagnose and resolve aircraft system problems using technical data and functional testing.
• Oversee aircraft jacking, lifting, towing, and powered/non‑powered ground‑equipment inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, forms, and automated data systems.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience on aircraft similar to the F‑16 Block 50.
• High school diploma or GED with completion certificate.
• Experience with phase inspections, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting of system failures.
• Proven ability to provide on‑the‑job training (OJT) to technicians.
• Capability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; US citizenship required.
