DevOps Engineer – Cloud & Container Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join OMPAY powered by Omantel in Muscat. The role focuses on building and securing cloud‑native infrastructure, automating operations, and ensuring high availability of our services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and optimise Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) including updates, patching and performance tuning.
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripting and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Implement security best practices, manage firewalls, conduct vulnerability assessments and respond to incidents.
• Deploy, maintain and secure containerised applications with Docker and Kubernetes, manage clusters on‑premise or in cloud services (EKS, GKE, AKS) and enforce RBAC policies.
• Build infrastructure as code using Terraform, Pulumi or CloudFormation and integrate it into CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage cloud resources across AWS, Azure and OCI, monitor usage, control costs and apply cloud security principles.
• Configure networking components including VPNs, DNS, load balancers and routing, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Set up centralized logging and monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack or Loki and ensure proactive alerting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in DevOps, Linux system administration and cloud environments.
