Executive Director - Corporate & Commercial Banking (China Coverage)

About the role

This role originates, manages and grows relationships with Chinese multinational corporations, state-owned enterprises, large private sector groups, financial institutions and strategic investors operating in Oman, the GCC and internationally. It covers the assigned portfolio, improves service quality, supervises team activities and client interactions, and ensures revenue and profitability targets are met while keeping client satisfaction, credit quality, regulatory compliance and governance standards intact.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Wholesale and Investment Banking to develop the team's strategy and business plan, and contribute to the China Coverage strategy and its penetration of Chinese corporates across Oman and the GCC
• Engage closely with Chinese business associations, trade bodies, chambers of commerce, embassies and investment promotion agencies, and promote the Bank as the preferred partner for Chinese corporates
• Manage the P&L of the assigned portfolio and achieve targets within defined budget levels
• Act as primary relationship owner and trusted advisor for Chinese corporate and institutional clients, building relationships with shareholders, board members, CEOs, CFOs and treasurers
• Originate and execute lending, transaction banking, trade finance, treasury, structured finance and capital markets opportunities, and coordinate product delivery across business units
• Lead client meetings, business reviews, strategic discussions, pitches and negotiations, and act as lead coordinator for complex cross-border opportunities
• Maintain credit quality, monitor covenants, early warning signals and watchlist relationships, and recommend risk mitigation measures
• Ensure full compliance with KYC, CDD, AML, sanctions and financial crime requirements, and keep client records, approvals and documentation complete and accurate
• Support talent development, coach junior team members and promote a culture of client centricity, risk awareness and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with Credit Risk, Global Transaction Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Treasury, Trade Finance, Compliance, Operations, Legal and international branches
